When you’re new to running sometimes it seems like an impossible battle, here are a couple tips to help you through.
-
Get a Running Buddy
Running can be a great solo task when you’re in the zone, but in the early days, sometimes you need more than just your own motivation, get a friend to come with you and you’ll be way less likely to flake out.
-
Put a reminder in your phone
When something isn’t part of our set routine we can forget to do it, but thanks to modern technology a few taps of a button and your very own pocket computer can tell you when to get off the sofa and out for a run.
-
Don’t aim too high
If you haven’t run since cross country when you were fifteen you aren’t going to be able to pull off a marathon on your first day. Start small, if you can only run around the block, just do that. Push yourself further everyday, but do it gradually.
-
Run and…
Remember how I mentioned the struggles of adding something new to a routine? Well why not make your run part of your routine. Run to the shop or to work, run to visit somebody or to have a picnic. You might be sweaty but you’ll be healthy too.
